The turbo V-6, with a displacement of 3.0 litres, is more powerful and torquey than the supercharged engine seen in the previous-generation S5. It accelerates quickly from a stop and makes passing other motorists on the highway a breeze. Nonetheless, it remains one of the most distinctive V6 engines available. This Audi V6 is fantastic, cheerfully rushing towards the 6500rpm redline every time, shrieking between shifts and offering a big surge of torque lowdown. 
 The S5 doesn't have launch control, but you can get a gut- wrenching take off by brake boosting it off the line. If you get that right, you'll be able to shoot aggressively off the line. The eight-speed torque-converter automatic transmission from ZF is as silky smooth as ever. In fact, the upshifts are so fluid, even at full speed, that it's a little too smooth at times.
The inside of the S5 Sportback is made of high-quality materials, has excellent fit-and-finish, and is designed to be ergonomically friendly. Despite its low roofline, the Sportback is a roomy vehicle. The cabin of the S5 is mostly conservative, as is typical of Audi. The overall style and layout predates the contemporary A6 and A8, which with their dual-screen display for the infotainment system and climate control look more futuristic. 
 The S5 isn't bad in terms of space for a sporty four-door. In truth, there is plenty of room up front, and the low window line and thin A-pillars provide an excellent view out. Legroom is considerable in the back. The rear seat is fairly comfortable, however headroom is limited due to the S5's slanting roofline. Finally, because the S5 is a notchback, it can function as an extremely practical sedan if you need to move things around. So if you have a budget of 1Cr and want a fast and sporty sedan, the Audi S5 Sportback is the way to go.
