At the time, white face powders were the standard in Japan,
thus the concept of a face powder that came in seven colours
was unusual. The concept behind the product was to apply the
powder using a variety of colours to complement each person's
skin tone, including white, yellow, beige, rose, peony, green,
and purple.
Shiseido believed that beauty tutorials may serve as
entertainment around 50 years before personal computers
were invented. Nine young women were chosen for the
company's advertisements to undergo a demanding education
in fine art, literature, music, nutrition, and even drama in
addition to cosmetics application and skin care.
Shiseido is the oldest and the first skincare company to be
launched. Even though the West had a significant influence on
the brand's design, the beauty and cosmetics company didn't
enter the global market until 1957.
Shiseido gained international recognition in 1980 with the
introduction of its first skincare line, and in 1988 with the
introduction of its anti-ageing line. By developing moisturisers
with sun protection in 1993, Shiseido established a new
standard for skin care.
